Trekkies Break Costume Record in Las Vegas

Enough Trekkies showed up the to Rio Hotel and Casino this weekend to break a Guinness Book of World Record for the most people in one place dressed in Star Trek costumes.

In all, 1, 085 people gathered in Star Trek costumes at the Star Trek Convention, which was plenty to break the record.

Trekkies are hoping to take back a record in Las Vegas this weekend.

The largest Star Trek convention is being held at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino, starting on Thursday.

The convention features a number of events, including parties and dinners with Star Trek celebrities.

There will also be a convention floor filled with vendors and panels, including several dedicated to the science and technology behind the world-wide phenomenon.

One of the biggest events will be an attempt to break the Guiness Book of World Record for most people dressed up in Star Trek costumes.

The group held the record until it was broken in London in October. It will take more than 1,063 Trekkies to take it back.

The record attempt is set for Saturday.
