Hospital Offering Nearly Scarless Surgery | Health
Title (Max 100 Characters)

A southern Nevada hospital is now offering a surgery that promises to be nearly scarless.
Southern Hills Hospital is now offering gallbladder removal surgery known as single-site cholecystectomy, using its new da Vinci surgical robot.
With a normal gallbladder removal, a patient would need at least three incisions. With the new surgical robot, only one incision is needed through the patient's belly button.
Unlike traditional surgeries, during a da Vinci surgery, the doctor sits at a console and looks at a 3D, high-definition image of the patient. The surgeon uses instruments on the console to move the arms and camera. The instruments move in real time with the doctor's movements.
The single-site surgery means an easier recovery, less blood loss and higher patient satisfaction.
