Metro Police is working with several neighborhood organizations to celebrate this year's National Night Out.

The community program aims to bring neighbors and police together to keep neighborhoods free of crime. This year's event is August 6 at several places in Metro's jurisdiction.

Avion Apartments, 6901 E. Lake Mead Blvd.

  • 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Food, games, vendor booths, neighborhood services, rides and games

Clark High School, 4291 Pennwood Ave

  • 6 to 8 p.m.
  • Low-cost vaccinations, school supplies for children 5 to 16 years old, while supplies last.

Downtown Area Command Parking Lot, 621 North 9th St.

  • 7 to 9:30 p.m.
  • Captain Shawn Andersen will host Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, City of Las Vegas agencies and several other community nonprofits. This event will kick off the next round of the Zappos' Downtown 360 Project. There will be face painters, live music, a petting zoo, food and drinks.

Harbor Island Apartments, 370 East Harmon Ave.

  • 6 to 8 p.m.
  • This community-based event focuses on the prevention of crime, gang and drug activity and how to work with police to keep communities safe year round. There will also be information on emergency and disaster preparedness.

La Fiesta Apartments, 1492 N. Lamb Blvd.

  • 5 to 8 p.m.
  • Snacks, vendor booths, free school supplies, live radio broadcast by 94.5 FM.

Knickerbocker Park in the Providence Community, 10695 Dorrell Lane

  • 6 to 8 p.m.
  • The event will promote family safety with the unveiling of a new traffic safety effort called P.A.R.T., which stands for Prevent Any Roadway Tragedy. It will also include child safety activities, emergency vehicle displays and a special appearance by the Metro Air Unit.

Town Square, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South

  • 5 to 9 p.m.
  • LVMPD and the National Association of Town Watch at Town Square will host an event that includes kids fingerprinting, a meeting with Smokey the Bear and McGruff the Crime Dog. Also, SWAT, the Clark County Fire Department fire house, the K-9 Unit and LVMPD Mounted Units will be there.

Whitney Community Center, 5712 Missouri

  • 5 to 7 p.m.
  • Come join your neighbors, Metro officers, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, K-9, SWAT and others for a barbecue in the park.
