Business Interns Host Event for Community Garden

An event focused on a downtown community garden is slated for Saturday evening.

Students in Clark County’s Summer Business Institute (SBI) internship program will host a senior and youth community fair from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Vegas Roots Community Garden, 715 N. Tonopah Drive.

The event will feature entertainment, a talent show, food and nutrition vendors, arts and crafts fair, carnival games and the unveiling of a new mural designed and painted by the students. Anyone interested in attending must bring paint supplies, gardening tools, or clear Christmas lights to donate in return for admission. The donated materials will be given to the community garden.

SBI is a summer paid internship program for entering high school juniors, seniors, and college freshman. The program is a partnership between Clark County, workforceCONNECTIONS, the Clark County School District, and more than 80 area businesses.

For more information, contact SBI Coordinator Kaveida Allen or Program Assistant Cecilia Equihua at 455-2426.
