Cactus Ave. Interchange Forcing Restrictions on I-15

Work for the new Cactus Avenue interchange will force lane restrictions along I-15 this week.

The Nevada Department of Transportation announced plans to reduce the southbound freeway to one lane from 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, while crews install girders for the overpass. Once that work is finished, traffic will be shifted back to the western half of the freeway.

I-15 northbound will be reduced to one lane from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday. When that work is finished, the I-15 northbound traffic will be shifted to the western half of the freeway.

The Cactus Avenue interchange will eventually allow drivers to get on and off I-15 from Cactus Avenue, relieving congestion at Silverado Ranch Avenue and St. Rose Parkway. The project will also extend Cactus Avenue between Dean Martin Drive and Las Vegas Boulevard.

The project is expected to be finished by the end of 2014.
