Dogs Take Over Desert Breeze Pool Saturday

A pool reserved for humans will go to the dogs this weekend.

Desert Breeze Aquatics Facility will hold its 9th annual Dog Daze of Summer event from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Dogs of all breeds and sizes will be allowed to splash and play in the pool for $5 per dog. Humans are free but only animals will be permitted in the water. Space is limited to 100 dogs per session and preregistration is being accepted online at clarkcountynv.gov/parksregisteration.

The event will be divided into two categories:

  • 8 to 9:15 a.m. – Small dogs, 50 pounds and lighter
  • 9:45 to 11 a.m. – Large dogs, more than 50 pounds

Owners must show their dog's vaccination and registration. Dogs must be on a leash while outside the facility. Owners must also stay with their dogs and clean up after them. Any dog showing aggression will be asked to leave.

Besides being allowed to play in the water, there will be raffles and prizes for the tallest dog, shortest dog and funniest pet trick.

Following the dog swim, the pool will be power washed with a Southern Nevada Health District-approved solution.
