Driving You Crazy: Light Needed at Buffalo and Mountains Edge
News

LAS VEGAS - A viewer asks when a traffic signal will be installed at Buffalo Drive and Mountains Edge Parkway. The viewer says a signal is overdue, since more homes now occupy the area.

This intersection, however, is still under private construction by Mountain's Edge developer The Focus Group.

That developer anticipates completing its final layer of pavement on Mountains Edge Parkway from Buffalo to Rainbow Boulevard next year. Once completed, Clark County will conduct final inspections of the work.

Once the inspections are complete, Clark County officials will launch a traffic study to determine if a traffic signal or multi-way stop is needed at the intersection.

Data collection is currently scheduled for December. The process could take approximately 60 days. Traffic researchers study several criteria before installing stop signs or traffic signals. Increased occupancy of homes inherently leads to an increase in traffic.

Meanwhile, improvements along Rainbow Boulevard from Blue Diamond Road to Erie Avenue are coming next year. Those improvements will provide an alternate route for residents south of Mountains Edge Parkway.
