Authorities Search Wanted Ex-Officer's Las Vegas Home
News

LAS VEGAS -- The search continues for former Los Angeles police officer accused of killing three people. Chris Dorner has not been seen in Las Vegas, but FBI and local law enforcement officials are keeping a close watch on the places he has ties.

FBI agents spent Thursday evening searching through Dorner's southwest Las Vegas valley home looking for clues to his next move. Neighbors were evacuated from their homes for several hours during the search.

"I came home from work, and noticed when we went to get the kids from school, there were FBI agents, undercover. After I knew who they were, I felt better," resident Dan Gomez said. "It's too close to home. It's kind of scary."

Metro Police detectives say the former LAPD police officer, who also has military training, could be headed anywhere, including Las Vegas.

Signs over valley freeways warned drivers Thursday to call 911 if they saw his Nissan truck. The burned-out truck was found later in the day in Big Bear Lake, California.

In a manifesto posted online, Dorner explained other ties to Nevada and named the Lock N' Load Gun Store located near Eastern Avenue and Serene Avenue.

Store manager Tony Melendez said Dorner would come in from time to time, but never bought a gun from him. Melendez said it would have been against federal law, because Dorner is not a full-time resident in Nevada. Melendez said there is no basis for any claims made against the store in the manifesto.

"We just hope this whole thing comes to an end. We may never get answers from this gentleman to why this happened, although he allegedly listed us out in the form of a manifesto," Melendez said.

Neighbors said they have had run-ins with Dorner in the past and that he wasn't friendly. Dorner lived in the neighborhood home since 2007.

The FBI is handling the investigation and have not said what they took from the house.
