County Changes Trash, Recycling Pickup
County Changes Trash, Recycling Pickup

The Clark County Commission approved changes to trash and recycling pickup during a meeting Tuesday.

Commissioners voted 4-2 to move to once-weekly trash and once-weekly recycling pick up. The decision includes a change to single-stream recycling, which is one large bin for recycling and one large bin for other trash.

The change means residents will no longer have to sort their own recycling into the colorful bins provided by Republic Services.

Rates for trash pickup do not change under the system.

The commissioners delayed action on changes to the agreement the county has with Republic Services. That agreement needs to be worked out before the trash pickup changes can go into effect.

The agreement will be addressed in a future commission meeting.

Several neighborhoods in unincorporated Clark County have been using the system approved Tuesday for several years. Republic Services has until 2017 to get the newly approved program rolling in all areas of the county.
