Water Issues Complicate Fire Fight | News
Water supply issues complicated efforts by Clark County Firefighters to bring a house fire under control.
The fire was first reported at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday at a home near Patrick Lane and Torrey Pines Drive.
When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the garage at a large, custom, single-story, single-family home. Crews found that the fire had spread into the attic.
Problems arose when crews realized that the closest fire hydrant was 1,000 feet away. According to fire crews, water issues became worse when someone drove over the large diameter supply line causing it to burst.
Crews finally got the fire under control at 1:05 a.m. Las Vegas Fire & Rescue helped fight the fire.
The people living in the home were able to get out. One person received minor injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but the damage to the property is estimated at $750,000.
