Emmy-Nominated Comedian Coming to the Palms

The Emmy-nominated star of the TV show "Louis", Louis C.K., will be performing at the Pearl inside the Palms Resort.

Tickets go on sale Saturday for the show set for Saturday, October 29. C.K. is known for his often painfully honest comedy. He is credited with writing several films including "The Invention Of Lying" with Ricky Gervais, "I Think I Love My Wife" with Chris Rock, along with several segments on "Saturday Night Live" and the TV show "Lucky Louie." 

The tickets are $53, $63 and $83 plus any additional service fees. They will go on sale at 1 p.m., through the Pearl box office or Ticketmaster.

Trekkies Gather at the Rio

Lovers of all things Star Trek will get together for the annual Star Trek Convention starting on August 11.

The gathering will be held at its new home: the Rio Hotel and Casino. The four-day convention will bring together 20,000 people to enjoy everything from the original 1960's series and all the programs it spawned. 

The several stars from the series are scheduled to appear including Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner and Patrick Stewart along with fan favorites from Star Trek: The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and even some actors from the newest Star Trek movie.

Vegas PBS Partners with CBS Radio for 15th Annual Baby Expo

Vegas PBS will partner with CBS Radio to promote its family programs and activities during the 15th annual Baby Expo, which caters to the growing families in southern Nevada from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The Baby Expo, which is free of charge, will be held at South Point Hotel & Casino, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South in the Exhibit Hall.  Parents and children can participate in interactive games, witness demonstrations, and receive free product samples and giveaways.

 

Vegas PBS characters Curious George and SuperWHY! will be on hand for photo opportunities, and children will be able to create their very own SuperWHY! cape.  Attendees can enter a raffle for a chance to win a ‘super’ assortment of PBS Kids items at the Vegas PBS booth.

Town Square Hosts National Night Out Event

 

A National Night Out celebration will be held Tuesday at Town Square.

The Las Vegas community is invited to join the South Central Area Command of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) on August 2 to celebrate National Night Out at Town Square from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. National Night Out will take place in Town Square Park and is free.

National Night Out is a nationwide effort to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for local anti crime programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

Guests can enjoy free food, soda and water (while supplies last), as well as live music, vehicle tours, free child finger-printing & I.D., free vehicle VIN etching, watch your car program/neighborhood watch registration and more.

AFAN Invites Partygoers to the Black & White Party  Tweetup

Aid for AIDS of Nevada kicks off the 30 day countdown to the annual Black & White Party by hosting a scavenger hunt Tweetup on July 28 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Guests who crack the code to the whereabouts of the final destination receive free raffle tickets with a Black & White Party ticket purchase and complimentary Black & White Party signature cocktails!

Participants will check in at Book & Stage to receive the first of three clues that they will need to decipher. After completing each task at the designated location, guests will receive a final clue that will direct them to the coveted end location where AFAN will celebrate their success with a specialty cocktail created by a master mixologist from The Cosmopolitan called the AFAN Tuxedo featuring Montecristo Rum in honor of the Black & White Party.

Dance Crews Converge on Vegas for World Finals

The competition takes place Sunday.

Imagine the Olympics -- the world-class athletes, the fans in the crowd waving their countries' flags, the awarding of gold, silver and bronze medals to the winners as their national anthems play.

Birthday Party for Silverton

 

The Silverton hosts a 14th birthday party today, featuring food and clothing giveaways.

Silverton will have activities going on throughout the day. Mi Casa Grill Cantina will be hosting the birthday celebration with Tequila Girls, $1 tacos, $2 Corona bottles and surprise giveaways. There will also be a sombrero toss to give guests the chance to win prizes. Cupcakes and t-shirts will also be given away to customers. Guests must be 21 and over to attend.

Guests at Mi Casa who are Silverton Rewards Club members will also have the chance to win a coupon for $5 in Free Slot Play when they win the 14th ticket of the day. This coupon will be good through the month of July.
