County Pools Join World's Largest Swim Lesson Attempt

Two Las Vegas pools will join others in southern Nevada in an international attempt to break a world record.

Desert Breeze and Hollywood pools are accepting registrations on a first-come, first-serve basis from people who want to be part of a Guinness World Record attempt at the largest simultaneous swimming lesson ever conducted. Tuesday, June 18.

Desert Breeze is located at 8275 Spring Mountain Road near Durango Drive, and the Hollywood Aquatic Center is located at 1550 S. Hollywood Blvd., south of East Charleston Boulevard.

The Southern Nevada Health District reported seven fatal drownings involving children in 2012. City of Henderson pools also are taking part in the event.

People are encouraged to register early because space is limited to about 150 participants, including adults and children, at both locations. Registration is free and forms are available at both facilities. Online registration also is available on the County’s website at www.ClarkCountyNV.gov.

Participants must be at least 3 years old. Parents must complete registration forms for children under 18. Check-in time the day of the event is 7:45 a.m. for an 8 a.m. start.
