Nevada Infant and Immunization Week will provide a number of opportunities to improve the health and well-being of your children starting Saturday.
The Southern Nevada Immunization and Health Coalition (SNIHC) and many health partners and providers will sponsor a week of immunization clinics during Nevada Infant Immunization Week (NIIW) April 20-27, beginning with a kickoff event hosted by the Southern Nevada Health District.
Nevada Infant Immunization Week is an annual observance that highlights the importance of protecting infants from vaccine-preventable diseases, and serves as a call to action for parents, caregivers and healthcare providers to ensure infants are fully immunized against 14 vaccine-preventable diseases before age 2.
The NIIW kickoff events begin from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Southern Nevada Health District’s Passport to Immunizations program, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Nehemiah Ministries’ during its Random Acts of Kindness community health fair.
SNIHC’s immunization clinics will offer vaccines at no cost to those who are Vaccines for Children (VFC)-eligible. VFC eligibility applies to children younger than 19 who are uninsured or have insurance coverage that does not cover vaccinations; are members of Nevada Check Up or Medicaid-eligible; or are American Indian or Alaskan natives.
For children who are not VFC-eligible, low-cost vaccines are available at the Southern Nevada Health District.
All attendees should be prepared to show identification and shot records. Nevada WebIZ will be onsite at each clinic to help parents and caregivers obtain their children’s shot records. Parents can also visit www.izrecord.nv.gov, complete the required fields and then print a copy of the child’s official immunization record.
