Metro Police are searching for a man who robbed a business near Flamingo Road and Buffalo Drive.

Police say the suspect walked into the store, pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money. The employee gave the suspect money, and the man left.

The suspect is described as a black man, between 17 and 20 years old, 5-foot-4, and between 135 and 145 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black hoodie with a distinctive spider design.

Detectives Look for Clues into Bold Home Burglaries

Metro Police Detectives with the department's Property Crimes Division are looking for two men who have been burglarizing homes in the southwest in the middle of the day.

Most of the homes hit in the string of burglaries were in Southern Highlands. After breaking into the house, the suspects took anything valuable like jewelry, electronics and even weapons.

The suspects are described as black men around 20 to 25 years old with very short hair. They were spotted driving a mid-1990s Honda Accord. The car is blue-green and is unregistered; although, it may have temporary tags in the windshield.

Man Robs Bank Inside Grocery Store

Metro Police are searching for a man who robbed a bank inside a grocery store.

The robbery happened August 10 at a store near Rainbow Boulevard and Warm Springs Road. The man approached the window and handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller complied with the demand and the man left the building.

He's described as an Asian or Hispanic male, between 25 and 35 years old, 5 foot 6 inches to 5 foot 8 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a black beret and a dark grey button-up long-sleeve shirt. Eyewitnesses also say the man had burn scars on both hands.

Police Arrest Two People for Three Robberies

Metro Police arrested two men connected to three different bank robberies in southern Nevada in the past two days. 

The first robbery happened on Wednesday, August 3 at a bank branch at Russell Road and Tenaya Way. The second one happened near Sahara Avenue and Maryland Parkway on Thursday. The third also happened on Thursday at a bank at Las Vegas Boulevard and Clark Street.

In all three robberies one suspect walked into the bank, waited in line to be called by the teller, gave the teller a note demanding money and then walked out with the cash. In two of the robberies the suspect indicated to the teller that he had a gun.

A National Night Out celebration will be held Tuesday at Town Square.

The Las Vegas community is invited to join the South Central Area Command of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) on August 2 to celebrate National Night Out at Town Square from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. National Night Out will take place in Town Square Park and is free.

National Night Out is a nationwide effort to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for local anti crime programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

Guests can enjoy free food, soda and water (while supplies last), as well as live music, vehicle tours, free child finger-printing & I.D., free vehicle VIN etching, watch your car program/neighborhood watch registration and more.

Man Arrested for Stabbing to Death Former Girlfriend

LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas man is facing murder charges after he allegedly stabbed to death a woman Monday night in the area of Windmill Rd. and Giles St., near Las Vegas Blvd. and Blue Diamond Rd.

Police say a woman and her boyfriend were walking on Giles St., when her ex-boyfriend, Ronnie Long, confronted the two and stabbed the woman. The woman was transported to UMC with multiple stab wounds and later died.

Police Search for Man Who Walked Away from Halfway House

 

Corrections officials need assistance locating an inmate who walked away from a halfway house in the southwest valley.

Inmate Eric Scheiterer walked away Tuesday from the Casa Grande Transitional Housing Facility. Scheiterer, 51, is white, 6-foot and approximately 170 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. Scheiterer was serving a 60-150 month sentence for habitual burglary.
