Police Search for Attempted Robbery Suspect

Metro Police are looking for an armed man who tried to get into a restaurant in the southwest part of the Las Vegas valley.

The suspect was spotted waiting behind an electrical box outside the restaurant. A short time later, the man was seen putting on a mask and approaching the restaurant with a gun in his hand.

The employees saw him and locked the door. He was not able to enter the business. The suspect was then seen getting into a blue SUV and leaving the scene.

Slow Down Thursday on I-15

 

Watch your speed on I-15 in the Strip corridor Thursday.

Metro and other local law enforcement agencies will be saturating the area in advance of expected large crowds for NASCAR and Mountain West basketball this weekend.

Metro will be focusing its efforts in the area of I-15 between Tropicana and St. Rose Parkway from 2 p.m. Thursday to 2 a.m. Friday. Officers will be directed to enforce seat belt and cell phone violations.

Officers from the Nevada Highway Patrol, North Las Vegas Police Department, Henderson Police Department, Boulder City Police Department, Mesquite Police Department and Lincoln County Sherriff’s Office are expected to participate in this event with Metro.

Super Bowl DUI Checkpoint Location Announced

Thinking of having a few drinks on Super Bowl Sunday? Metro Police will be on the lookout if you decide to drive.

The Metro Traffic Bureau, along with Officers from Enterprise Area Command, will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint, sponsored in part by the Joining Forces Grant from the Nevada Office of Traffic Safety.

Postal Inspectors Search for Mailbox Thief

The United States Postal Inspection Service is looking for a man involved in a series of break-ins at apartment mailboxes.

The inspectors say the suspect is responsible for breaking into mailboxes at three different apartment buildings in October.

  • The first happened at West Park Condominiums, 5125 W. Reno Avenue.
  • The second happened at Camden Cove Apartments, 4700 W. Rochelle Avenue.
  • The final crime happened at 5109 N. Rainbow Boulevard.

All of the break-ins happened in the early morning hours. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his mid-to-late 20s. He has a mustache or goatee, and he has a shaved head. The suspect has been seen wearing Oakland Raiders football gear and a Pittsburgh Pirates baseball cap.

Metro Police are looking for a man who robbed the gaming area of a grocery store in September.

The robbery happened around 11 p.m. September 28. Police say the suspect went to the gaming area of the grocery in the 7400 block of South Durango and demanded money from the gaming attendant. The suspect threatened to shoot customers if the clerk did not give him the money. The attendant handed over the money and the suspect left the area.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, 5-foot-11, 180 pounds and unshaven. He was wearing a tank top and blue jeans. Anyone with information is urge to call Metro’s Robbery Section at 828-3591, or to leave an anonymous tip call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.

Metro Police are searching for a man who robbed a store near Flamingo Road and Rainbow Boulevard.

The robbery happened around 11:30 a.m. October 23. Police say the suspect entered the business and acted like a customer. He then showed the employee a handgun and demanded money. The suspect took the money, along with a PlayStation 3 video game console and several video games. He was last seen walking east through the parking lot.

Police Search for 4 Robbery Suspects

Metro Police are searching for four men who robbed a store earlier this month.

Officers say on October 8, the four men walked into a business near Flamingo Road and Rainbow Boulevard, pulled out guns, threatened employees as well as customers, and demanded money. After getting the money, the suspects left.

All the suspects were black men between 5-foot-7 and 6-foot-3. Three of them were wearing hoodies and one was wearing a baseball cap. All of them used scarves or bandannas to cover their faces.
