Wife Arrested in Murder of Nellis Airman

LAS VEGAS -- The wife of Nellis Airman Nathan Paet has been arrested and charged in his murder. Police say Michelle Paet conspired with three other people to kill her husband and collect on insurance money.

The arrest reports for 31-year-old Michael Rudolph Rodriguez, 33-year-old Corry A. Hawkins, 23-year-old Jessica Austin and 29-year-old Michelle Paet were released Thursday.

Nathan Paet was gunned down in his garage on December 1 as he was getting ready to leave for work. Police say his wife stood to receive $650,000 in life insurance upon the death of her husband.

Police Arrest 3 in Nellis Airman's Murder

LAS VEGAS -- Three people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Nellis airman who was shot to death in his garage last week as he prepared to leave for work.

Twenty-eight-year-old Staff Sergeant Nathan Paet was gunned down on Dec. 1. in his Mountain's Edge neighborhood. After being shot, he stumbled back into his home and died.

His wife and four children were asleep inside the home when the shooting happened, but neighbors say they saw one man take off running after the shooting.

Police have arrested 31-year-old Michael Rudolph Rodriguez, 33-year-old Corry A. Hawkins and 23-year-old Jessica Austin. All are facing murder and conspiracy to commit murder charges.

Paet was originally from Guam, and joined the Air Force in 2002. He and had been stationed in Arizona and Alaska before moving here in 2007. Tuesday, Nellis Air Force Base held a memorial service for Paet and his family.

Arrests Made in 95-Year-Old's Death

LAS VEGAS -- Two women are behind bars, accused of murdering a 95-year-old woman while trying to steal her purse in a grocery store parking lot. Thirty-year-old Teresa Meamber and 19-year-old Kierstie Manning face serious charges including murder and attempted robbery.

On July 26, police say the two women attacked 95-year-old Bertha Meier and tried to steal her purse at the Smith's parking lot on Desert Inn and Decatur.

Surveillance video outside Smith's grocery store at Decatur Boulevard and Desert Inn Road shows Meier walking through the parking lot, carrying an umbrella and pushing a shopping cart.  

Suddenly, a dark-colored Nissan Sentra darts across the parking lot. One suspect, now believed to be Manning, jumps out and tries to take Meier's purse. Meier refuses to let go. The assailants then drag the elderly woman across the concrete before taking off without her purse.

Body Found in Desert Identified as California Woman

LAS VEGAS -- The body of a woman found in the desert in early November has been identified as Michele Carson of West Covina, California.

Carson's body was discovered on Nov. 7 in the desert area south of Las Vegas Boulevard and St. Rose Parkway by two people who were target shooting in the area.

Metro is asking anyone with information on Carson or the crime to call them at (702)828-3521.

Mayweather's Court Date Set Over Vegas Scuffle

LAS VEGAS -- Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. will appear in court in February on a security guard's claim that he was poked in the face last month during an argument outside Mayweather's home in Southern Highlands.

The 33-year-old Mayweather did not appear in person for his Wednesday arraignment in Las Vegas Justice Court but was represented by his attorney.

Mayweather is accused of battery for allegedly jabbing his finger in the cheek of the  homeowner association guard during an argument over parking tickets.

Mayweather is currently on bail on an unrelated case involving grand larceny and robbery charges.

Mayweather's court date is set for Feb. 3 in this latest incident.

Arrest Made in Home Invasion Killing

LAS VEGAS -- A man is in custody and facing charges in the home invasion murder of a 15-year-old girl. Metro police arrested 36-year-old Norman David Belcher Monday evening. He is facing murder, attempted murder, robbery and burglary charges.

According to the arrest report, Belcher was stopped for a traffic violation about 30 minutes after the shooting was reported. The officer who stopped Belcher later identified him as being the person he stopped in the area of the shooting.

High school student Alexus Postorino was shot to death early Monday morning at a home near Tropicana Avenue and Grand Canyon Avenue. Police say she was an innocent victim. Postorino's father, William Postorino, is a convicted drug felon and told police he had been feuding with Belcher over money.

Floyd Mayweather Charged with Battery

LAS VEGAS -- An arrest warrant has been issued for boxer Floyd Mayweather, Jr. He has been charged with battery after poking a security guard in the face last month.

In a police report, the Southern Highlands security officer was confronted by Mayweather after putting a parking violation ticket on his vehicle. The boxer then allegedly slapped the ticket onto the security officer's vehicle and began poking him in the face.

Mayweather already faces battery charges for another incident where he is accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend and threatening his sons. He is due in court to face those charges next month.
