Crime

LAS VEGAS -- A former Wisconsin sheriff candidate was arrested in early February during a Las Vegas police sex sting.

According to the police report, Jeffrey Gerrietts was arrested at the Orleans Hotel during an undercover investigation of the hotel's spa area. Police say they had several complaints of patrons performing sexual acts in the spa.

The report says an officer entered the steam room and saw a man, later identified as Gerrietts, engaged in a lewd act. The officer then solicited Gerrietts for sex. Gerrietts allegedly agreed and was placed under arrest.

Gerrietts ran an unsuccessful campaign for the Racine County, WI sheriff in 2010. According to the Racine Journal Times, he has resigned his position at the Mount Pleasant Police Department.
