Police looking for purse snatcher who injures woman

Metro Police are looking for a man who severely injured an elderly woman during a purse snatching in March.

According to police, the man grabbed the woman's purse while she was leaving a hotel and casino near West Flamingo Road.

The man ran from the scene, while several people who saw what happened tried to stop him. He was last seen jumping a block wall on the north side of West Flamingo Road.

The man police are looking for is described as a white man between 20 and 30 years old. He is about 5 foot 10 and 170 to 180 pounds. He has light-colored brown hair. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt, light-colored pants and flip-flop sandals.

Metro Police Looking for Involved in Gas Station Shooting

Metro Police are looking for the man shot and injured a one person in an apparently random crime.

According to police, the shooting happened just before 1 a.m. Oct. 1 at a gas station near Durango Drive and Desert Inn Road.

The victim was putting gas in his car, when a man approached him, asked him what he was looking at, pulled out a handgun and fired one round. The victim was hit in the leg, taken to the hospital and treated and released.

Metro's violent crime section is asking for the public's help in tracking down the man responsible. Police are looking for three people who were in the area just before the shooting. They are not suspects, but detectives would like to speak to them.

Police Looking for Bank Robber

Metro Police are looking for a man in connection with two bank robberies earlier this month.

According to police, the first robbery happened Jan. 22 at around 12:20 p.m. near Lake Mead and Rampart boulevards. The second was Jan. 28 at around 11:15 a.m. near Rainbow Boulevard and Russell Road.

In both robberies, the man went to a teller and handed over a note demanding money. He then lifted up his sweatshirt to display a gun in his waistband. In both cases, the tellers gave him money and he left.

The man is described as a white man with brown hair who is between 24 and 26 years old. He is between 6 foot 1 and 6 foot 3 and between 180 and 200 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a red Alabama Crimson Tide baseball cap, dark gray hooded sweatshirt with white, horizontal stripes, blue jeans and sneakers.

Police Search for Fast-Food Restaurant Robber

Metro Police are searching for a man who robbed a fast-food restaurant near Cimarron and Blue Diamond roads.

According to police, the robbery happened Jan. 6 at around 11 p.m. The suspect entered the business and demanded money. An employee gave the man money from the register, and he took the tip jar. The man left the restaurant on foot in an unknown direction.

The man police are looking for is described as a black man about 25 years old. He is 5 foot 6, 150 pounds and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap with a white rim, a white long-sleeved button-down shirt and blue jeans.

Police Searching for Man Who Used Long-Barreled Gun to Rob Store

Metro Police are looking for a man who robbed a business on Rainbow Boulevard near Patrick Lane.

According to police, the man walked into the business just after 9:30 p.m. Dec. 3 and pulled out a long-barreled gun. The man threatened the clerk and demanded all the money from the register.

The man was last seen leaving the area on a bicycle.

He is described as a black man between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 8 and 160 and 180 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a gray beanie, gray hoodie, blue jacket, blue jeans, white shoes and sunglasses.

Police Still Search for Man Who Stole Cab

Metro Police have re-released a picture of a man they say robbed a cab driver this past summer because the man has still not been identified.

According to police, at around 2:30 a.m. on August 22, the man called for a cab from a business near Charleston Boulevard and Hualapai Way.

After being driven to the area of Tropicana Avenue and Ft. Apache Road, the man became upset and got out of the cab. The driver also got out of the cab. At that point, the man pulled out a gun and threatened the cab driver, police said.

The man then got back into the cab and drove away with it. The car was later recovered.

The man police are looking for is described as a white man in his 20s with a medium build and short hair. He was last seen wearing a ball cap, glasses, a light-colored T-shirt and jeans.
