Police Looking for Man Who Robbed 2 Businesses

 

Metro Police are looking for a man who robbed two businesses in the southwest part of the Las Vegas valley.

According to police, the robberies happened just a few hours apart May 7. The first one was at a business near Durango Drive and Russell Road. The man walked into the store, brought an item to the counter, pulled out a folding knife and demanded money.

The employee gave the man money and he left.

Police believe the same man then robbed another business about two hours later at Fort Apache Road and Twain Avenue. He was last seen fleeing south on Fort Apache Road.

The suspect is described as an Asian male about 30 to 35 years old. He is between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-7 and between 150 and 160 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black New York Yankees baseball cap, a gray hoodie with orange and white writing, tan shorts, black socks, white sneakers and a wedding ring.

Budget tightening for Metro Police will result in the closures of the lobbies at three substations beginning Saturday.

These locations are:

  • Bolden Area Command, 1851 Stella Lake Street
  • South Central Area Command, 4860 Las Vegas Boulevard South
  • Southeast Area Command, 3675 East Harmon Avenue

The Downtown Area Command closed its front lobby in March 2010.

The civilian support personnel who normally staff these locations will be moved to more critical positions within the department, eliminating the need to hire additional staff to fill those roles. No positions will be eliminated during this re-allocation of resources.

The primary functions of these front lobby locations were taking crime and accident reports, registering firearms, and fielding special service requests from citizens. These services will still be available at other substations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday:

Police Search For 2 Men in Attempted Robbery of Cab Driver

Metro Police are searching for two men who tried to rob a cab driver back in February.

According to police, the men got into the cab at about 8:30 p.m. February 16 near the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Decatur Boulevard.

The men then used a handgun to try to rob the cab's driver. The driver was able to escape without getting hurt.

One person police are looking for is described as a black man, 18 years old, 5-foot-6 and 145 pounds with a dark complexion. The second person is a white man, 18 years old, 5-foot-1, 130 pounds with a fair complexion.

Metro Police are searching for a man in connection with a bank robbery.

According to police, the man walked up to the teller at a bank inside a grocery store near Buffalo Drive and Flamingo Road just before 12:30 p.m. March 13.

The man passed the teller a note demanding money. The teller complied, the man took the money and left, police said.

The man is described as a black man between 18 and 28 years old. He's between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-10 and between 160 and 180 pounds. He has a dark complexion, a mustache and a goatee.

At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a white, v-neck, long-sleeved shirt, dark pants and a pinstriped Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap with a dark bill.

Police Search for Man in 2 Armed Robberies

Metro Police are looking for a man who robbed two businesses in two different parts of the Las Vegas valley.

The first robbery happened February 18 at a business on the 6900 block of West Tropicana Avenue, which is near Tropicana and Rainbow Boulevard. According to police, the man walked into the business, showed the employee a hand gun and demanded cash.

The man did the same thing at a business near Flamingo Road and Spencer Street on February 23.

The man is described as a black man between 20 and 24 years old. He is between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-6 and 125 and 135 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and a goatee.

At the time of the robberies, he was wearing a black baseball cap, white coat with black designs, dark jeans and dark shoes. During the February 23 incident, he was wearing a gray hoodie with a white design under the white coat.

Metro Police are looking for a man who robbed a convenience store near Russell Road and Arville Street.

According to police, the man walked into the store at about 12:30 a.m. January 27. He took an item from the shelf, walked to the counter, pointed a silver handgun at the clerk and demanded money.

The clerk gave him money, and he left.

The man is described as a white man between 30 and 40 years old. He is 6-foot-2 and between 200 and 225 pounds. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing black overhauls and a black knitted cap.

Police believe the same man is responsible for other robberies in the southwest part of the Las Vegas valley. In previous robberies he was seen wearing a camouflage jacket.
