Elvis Celebrated at Opportunity Village
Elvis Celebrated at Opportunity Village

It was a celebration of The King at one southern Nevada nonprofit.

Opportunity Village commemorated the passing of Elvis Presley with an Elvis impersonator contest Friday at its campus on Buffalo Drive and Russell Road.

The OV Elvi troupe served as judges. The person made the best impression walked away with $600.

The nonprofit, which provides job training and other services for southern Nevadans with intellectual disabilities, was actually hired by Elvis to manufacture the scarves he would give to audience members.

The nonprofit still creates the scarves years after the King of Rock 'n' Roll's death.

Elvis died at his home in Memphis on August 16, 1977.
