Spring Valley High Receives Thousands in Donations

Spring Valley High Receives Thousands in Donations

Volunteers delivered more than $30,000 in cash, food, hygiene products and school supplies to Spring Valley High School Wednesday.

The money and supplies were donated through a project called Giver Game. It was developed by ChoiceCenter Leadership University. The leadership students raised money mostly through small donations.

Many of the students at Spring Valley High School are in families struggling in the tough economy. The school has a food bank where kids can pick up food for their entire family.

"We have a food bank here where we serve over 100 families every month.  We have about 45 percent of our kids on free and reduced lunch so there is a huge need for food. We also have school supplies. We have paper supplies, things that can be used in the classroom for the benefit of the kids," founding Principal of Spring Valley High School Bob Gerye said.
