Laxalt to capitalize on Biden backlash in 2022 Senate run against Masto

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — In a western battleground state that could decide which party controls the U.S. Senate, Republican Adam Laxalt has early on targeted those who feel angered and afraid, telling them the stakes of next year's race against Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto are no less than existential.

From rural towns to Las Vegas, people he's met campaigning ask: “What in the world has happened to this country? And so fast," he said Sunday in Gardnerville, near where cattle lined the highway. “We have a role to play in saving the whole country with this race."

Since launching his campaign with a good-versus-evil, “Star Wars”-themed ad titled “The Good Guys,” Laxalt has railed against Democrats and an unholy trinity he says is working in parallel to “radically transform” the United States — the media, Hollywood and Big Tech... Read More

Budding Las Vegas tech community has monthly meetups

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- You may think tech startups are only in Silicon Valley but Las Vegas has its own tech startup scene.

Southern Nevada has a budding community, with support from city leaders. Since May, the city of Las Vegas has helped create Tech Alley in the downtown Las Vegas Arts District. It's a place for local tech entrepreneurs to meet to discuss ideas and business plans.

Tech Alley CEO Joshua Leavitt says the monthly meet-ups could lead to some big business.

“In my mind, let’s create something where if anyone wanted to engage the tech scene. If anyone wanted to engage the startup scene or an entrepreneur eco-system, they now know where to go," he said.

Tech Alley is happening Saturday, Oct. 16. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Stinko's and Taverna Costera in the downtown Arts District. You can register at this link.

Foundation helps families through grief after pregnancy, infant loss

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Hundreds of local families will gather Friday evening to support each other in a "gone but not forgotten" vigil. They're honoring the babies that never got to take their first breath, after pregnancy or infant loss.

More than six months into her pregnancy, Gaby Foster and her husband found themselves racing to the hospital preparing for very early birth. She could never have imagined leaving empty-handed.

“Losing a child is not the order of life,” Foster said.

But it's a harsh reality for so many families.

Jalen never got to take his first breath but Foster said losing him so far into her pregnancy was unfathomable.

“We may have not gotten to grow up with them, but they’re our babies. They matter,” she said.

Foster said it's why she and her husband created Jalen’s Gift Foundation. They didn't want other families to feel alone during a difficult time... Read More
