Mutilated Cat Found in Southwest Home's Front Yard

LAS VEGAS -- A sad discovery was made in a Southern Highlands neighborhood over the weekend when a woman found a mutilated cat in her yard.

Animal advocates say all signs indicate a human was responsible for the act.

Amani Wilson, who was walking her dogs in the neighborhood where the cat was found, admits her dogs are more life family members than pets.

"I'm just mortified that somebody would ever, ever, ever do something to an innocent animal like that," Wilson said.

The homeowner, who discovered the cat, doesn't want to be identified for fear of retaliation.

"It was cleanly cut in half. I can't imagine anyone being able to do that," she said. "At first I thought it was sleeping because I couldn't really tell. When I got over to it, I realized it was only half of a cat."

The homeowner couldn't find a collar for the animal.
